The Dietary Department at Saint Luke’s centers around our residents. Their need to have foods that are familiar and traditional influences the choices on our six-week menu cycle. The menu interprets Canada’s Food Guide for Healthy Eating into appetizing and enticing food choices. A clinical dietician is on-staff.
Meals are served in the main Dining Room for those who are able to attend or are otherwise served to residents in the unit lounges where they are assisted by staff if necessary. There is one breakfast setting, two lunch settings and one supper setting. Residents are encouraged to socialize at meal times and to exercise as much independence as possible in making food choices and feeding themselves.
An alternative choice is available at each meal if a resident does not prefer the main menu. Afternoon and nighttime snacks are also provided in the various units, and light snacks are also available for residents at other times upon request.
