Saint Luke’s Chapel

Located on the Main Floor of Saint Luke’s Home, Saint Luke’s Chapel is the home of a special and unique Faith Community. Although physically attached to Saint Luke’s Home, Saint Luke’s Chapel is open to all residents of Saint Luke’s long-term care facility and tenants of our Seniors Housing, as well as for those who reside in the surrounding area.

There are regular services on Sunday Mornings at 10:30am. Although we worship in the Anglican tradition, we are an ecumenical community comprised of people of many faiths and traditions. We are a community that supports and respects each person’s faith tradition and practice and we strive to be companions, one to another, as we journey together.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care focuses on spiritual and emotional support, helping individuals cope during challenging times. While families and friends can be a great source of love and support, the objective view of a compassionate outsider can be invaluable when trying to cope with a wide range of difficulties. Pastoral care’s religious and spiritual nature is formed on mutual values and respect.

Mental and emotional well-being significantly impacts the quality-of-life and physical wellness of all individuals. The role of pastoral care in providing spiritual and emotional support means delivering holistic, individualized care that complements medical intervention for the best possible quality-of-life. Pastoral care in the Saint Luke’s Community is open to all residents of long-term care and tenants in Seniors Housing, whatever their religious, church or faith community background.

Nursing Services

Nursing staff are proud to provide professional care to the residents of Saint Luke’s long-term care facility.  Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) work closely with other health care professionals to ensure all residents receive the highest possible standard of care while truly making Saint Luke’s their “home.”

The long-term care home consists of five nursing units, one of which is a secure dementia care unit for residents who may experience challenging behaviours. Additionally, Saint Luke’s has a designated respite room that members of the community may avail of upon request, as well as an angel care room for residents who require palliative, end-of-life care. In total, up to 118 residents may reside at Saint Luke’s at any given time.

Nursing staff and/or nurse managers will gladly meet with residents or family members to address any issue of concern.

Dietary Services

The Dietary Department at Saint Luke’s centers around our residents. Their need to have foods that are familiar and traditional influences the choices on our six-week menu cycle. The menu interprets Canada’s Food Guide for Healthy Eating into appetizing and enticing food choices.  A clinical dietician is on-staff.

Afternoon Tea

Saint Luke’s offers daily Afternoon Tea in the main (Notre Dame) Dining Room.  This service is offered to residents, families, friends and visitors, including tenants of our seniors’ housing community, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. daily.  Family members are also welcome to bring along goodies for the residents to enjoy with their cup of tea.  Residents, tenants and families enjoy the Tea Room because it offers them a change of scenery and a place to visit and relax.

Wheelchair Accessible Bus

Saint Luke’s owns and operates a fully wheelchair accessible passenger bus to transport residents of our long-term care facility to medical or other appointments, as well as for weekly shopping trips and other occasional outings (usually summer months). Transportation for residents of the home is free of charge.
